The evaluation price is only the first line of the bill. Most traders need more than one attempt, and many firms charge again when you pass. Two fees do most of the damage: resets and activation fees.
Reset fees
A reset gives you a fresh evaluation with the same rules after a breach, usually for less than a new account. Reset prices for a 50K account, from each firm's own page:
| Firm and plan (50K) | Evaluation price | Reset | Activation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Topstep Trading Combine, Standard | $49/month | $49 | $149 |
| Topstep Trading Combine, No Activation Fee | $95/month | $95 | None |
| Take Profit Trader Test | $170/month | $99 | $130 (PRO) |
| Bulenox Qualification | $175 one-time | $78 | $148 (Master) |
| Tradeify Select | $165 one-time | $109 | None |
| Top One Elite Daily | $218 one-time | $104 | None |
| Top One Elite Access | $189 one-time | $35 | $189 |
List prices checked Oct 25, 2026. Several firms showed promotional prices that day; we don't list those. Apex doesn't publish its prices or activation fee as text (they're in its checkout configurator), and says its new evaluations have no resets.
Read the small print on resets
- Resets don't always extend your time. Bulenox says a reset doesn't extend the 30-day access period. TPT says a reset doesn't change your subscription renewal date.
- There may be a limit. Tradeify allows up to 10 resets per evaluation per 30 days.
- Subscriptions keep billing. TPT's test subscription doesn't cancel automatically when you break a rule.
Activation fees
An activation fee is charged when you pass, to open the funded (or "PRO" or "Master") account. Firms that skip it usually price the evaluation higher. Topstep sells both versions side by side: $49/month plus $149 on activation, or $95/month with no activation fee. Which is cheaper depends on how many months you pay before you pass. That's what the calculator is for.
Monthly vs one-time pricing
With a subscription (Topstep, TPT), every extra month adds the full monthly price. With a one-time fee (Tradeify, Top One, Bulenox), a slow pass costs nothing extra, but a failed attempt means a reset or a new purchase.
Add it up for your own plan
Use our true cost to get funded calculator. Pick a firm or enter your own numbers, set how many attempts you expect, and it adds up evaluation fees, resets, months of subscription and activation, minus any discount you've confirmed at checkout. Before you rely on a code, read what discount codes do and don't cover.
Quick answers
What is a prop firm activation fee?
A one-time charge when you pass the evaluation, to open the funded account. Topstep's Standard 50K plan charges $149, Take Profit Trader charges $130 for PRO, and Bulenox charges $148 for the 50K Master account (checked Oct 25, 2026). Tradeify Select and Top One Elite Daily list no activation fee.
Is a reset cheaper than buying a new evaluation?
Usually. At the firms we checked, 50K resets ranged from $35 (Top One Elite Access) to $109 (Tradeify Select), all below the evaluation price. But a reset may not extend your access period or change your billing date.
Do discount codes apply to reset and activation fees?
Often not. Codes usually apply to the evaluation fee. Check the checkout total for each line before relying on a discount.
